Cooke and recent alums publish new paper in JSG on formation of strike-slip faults

A frame from an animation of the evolution of shear strain in a claybox experiment. A red line, denoting a zone of high strain, horizontally bisects a white background, with blue, lightning-like lines branching off of it sub-parallel to the red line.

Dr. Michele Cooke and recent graduates Alex Hatem and Kevin Toeneboehn recently published a paper in the Journal of Structural Geology on the formation and growth of strike slip faults and their relation to earthquakes.  More information can be found here.
